Always wanted to put on a beard and have a boogie on stage?Join Local Drag King Legend Dandy Issues for a 3 hour workshop as he guides you step by step in a masterclass of getting started in drag. From helping you to developing a drag persona from scratch, practical exercises to get you build confidence in performing to getting you to look at your kingly part.From lipsync to live comedy, this workshop is suitable for anyone and everyone. Whether you are a creative looking to expand your professional practice to a total novice who has never stepped on a stage but wants to explore playing with their gender. What you will learn:(each section with approx. 40 minutes with breaks)Part 1 - WHAT IS A DRAG?: An Exploration Drag King history, different forms of alternative drag and masculinityPart 2 - CHARACTER AND ACT DEVELOPMENT: Creating a drag persona and developing an act from scratchPart 3 - AESTHETICS OF DRAG: How to apply masculine and alternative Drag makeup and introduction to building a costume for your characterWhat is provided:Makeup, basic costume parts and a whole load of fun and creativity. What you need to bring:Pen and paper, Questions and ideas for potential drag characters. Note: Whilst this workshop's primary focus is for those wishing to learn about how to be a drag king, anyone who is wishing to explore alternative drag as an artform is welcomed and encouraged to come along.
