Cheer for Change is a university cheerleading championship that brings together institutions from across South Africa for a day of athletic excellence, entertainment, and meaningful social impact. The inaugural Cheer for Change is proposed to take place on the 10th of October 2026. More than a competition, the event uses the energy and influence of university sport to unite students, celebrate talent, empower women in sport, and raise awareness around Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Hosted by the North-West University Sports Department, the event aims to become an annual platform that combines competitive cheerleading with community engagement and purpose-driven partnerships.
