Winner of three awards at the 2026 Tribeca Festival, including Best Documentary Feature, Jail Time Records takes audiences inside the crammed alleyways of the Central Prison of Douala in Cameroon. Built for 800 but now holding nearly 6,000 men, the prison is home to Jail Time Records, the first recording studio ever created inside an African prison. Directed and produced by Dione Roach and Steve Happi, the film follows three musicians, Stone, Transporteur, and Empereur, as they navigate life behind bars while creating music and organizing a concert within the prison walls. Since its founding in 2018, the studio has become both a creative outlet and a lifeline for imprisoned artists, a fight for hope and redemption in the midst of extreme suffering. Pulsing with unforgettable music and raw emotion, the film is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Taika Waititi, Rita Ora, and Garrett Basch serve as executive producers, along with production company Artists Equity
