This week we are showing Charles Bryant and Alla Nazimova’s silent masterpiece, Salomé (1923)—an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s infamous 1891 play. Conceived, produced, and starring the legendary bisexual icon Alla Nazimova, the film is one of American cinema’s earliest art films and a touchstone of queer film history. Come & enjoy by candlelight the hypnotic, otherworldly atmosphere of this film, inspired by Aubrey Beardsley’s Art Nouveau illustrations. We will be screening it in the garden. We have heaters, blankets and drinks specials… Happy hour from 4pm-7pm. Please note, as this is a free screening, seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
