Bára Gísladóttir brings classical rigor into the gnarly spaces of dark experimental music. In collaboration with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, she’ll perform her work »VÍDDÍR« together with an ensemble. First conceived for the vast acoustics of Copenhagen’s Grundtvig’s Church, sound writhes through the space in waves until the separate performers begin to merge into a single organism. Solid masses and near-weightless textures gather, fading to reincarnate in altered forms suspended in the air one moment and buried deep beneath the soil the next.
