DM Training & Discussion of High-Risk Rope

Coil & Cord is hosting an event that includes a training on skills for DMing rope events and a discussion of risks in rope suspension and other high-risk rope practices. This event aims to: * present an overall approach to space monitoring rope events at Coil & Cord, for current or prospective DMs & event hosts* present & practice specific skills for space monitoring & communicating with attendees * review & clarify Coil & Cord's rope event rules, discuss how to handle most likely rules issues and edge cases, propose any changes to event rules* cover what to do in emergencies (Coil & Cord's "emergency action plan")* discuss & evaluate examples of rope suspension & other high-risk rope - discuss what in the example is concerning to you and what degree of concern, discuss your risk assessment in relation to your own practice vs. other people's risk profiles vs. the event's/venue's risk profile, and what you might think/say/do if you saw that while DMing or hosting a rope event at Coil & Cord. This conversation welcomes different perspectives on the riskiness of particular rope practicies, and we hope that we all can learn from one another and our different perspectives and experiences in rope.This session is focused on the context of rope events at Coil & Cord, though many of these skills are transferable to DMing at other events/venues.Attending this session is important for anyone interested DMing or hosting rope events at Coil & Cord Studio.Attendees at this session will have priority in being selected as DM volunteers for Coil & Cord events.
