Back by popular demand, we’re thrilled to bring back Rob Flax’s Boom Chick Trio to the New Song stage. Flax is an award-winning virtuoso violinist, classically trained but known for his jazz and improvisational pyrotechnics and irresistible grooves. He is also a powerhouse vocalist, capable of silky crooning à la Nat King Cole as well as visceral Chicago blues shouts. Rob has performed nationally and internationally with artists such as B.B. King and Tower of Power and has written music for choreographers, films, and several original projects.Rob Flax’s Boom Chick Trio is a Boston-based, genre-defying supergroup that features Slava Tolstoy, guitarist, singer, and producer, originally from St. Petersburg, Russia. His International String Trio fuses Gypsy Jazz with World Music, and Slava has toured across the United States many times on guitar. Rounding out the group is bassist Felix Sartori, who has performed with the likes of Peter Rowan and Twisted Pine and from Anchorage, Alaska, to Accra, Ghana.
