Inspired by the real-life tragedy of Flight PS752, Papa Sierra is a powerful Canadian feature drama about loss, resilience, and lives forever changed by an unimaginable act of violence.On January 8, 2020, Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 was shot down shortly after takeoff from Tehran by missiles fired by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), killing all 176 people on board.Papa Sierra follows three women—Iranian, Ukrainian, and Canadian—whose lives are profoundly altered by the tragedy. An Iranian woman faces the loss of her husband while carrying his unborn child; a Ukrainian woman takes responsibility for a child orphaned by the disaster; and a Canadian woman struggles with the devastating loss of her Iranian spouse.
